Hall-Dale outlasts Boothbay
The Hall-Dale Bulldogs defeated the Boothbay Region Seahawks, 4-1, on Perkins Field on Friday, Oct. 18.
The now 10-3 Bulldogs were seeded second in Class C South while the Seahawks, now 4-9, gave the visitors about all they could handle, despite an official’s call regarding a negated goal by Boothbay which would have made the score 3-2 in the third quarter. The official saw the ball go off the end line off the Seahawks before Boothbay apparently scored and there was a tangle of players in front of the goal, including the goalie falling on the ball, which would have resulted in at least a penalty stroke for Boothbay. After a discussion with the coaches on what transpired, Hall-Dale was awarded possession.
Hall-Dale scored its first goal at 10:35 of the first quarter but Boothbay tied the game later in the quarter on a goal by Bailey Lewis to make it 1-1, which was the score at halftime.
The Bulldogs scored twice more in the third quarter and added its final goal at 6:22 of the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs dominated in penalty corners getting eight in the first quarter and 16 total. Boothbay had two penalty corners.
The Seahawks will finish the regular season at home on Monday, Oct. 21 against Lisbon at 3:30 p.m.
