Dear Editor:

Homeowners, BRGC members, visitors, friends, and friends of friends, we are so grateful to be living here in Boothbay where volunteerism and community involvement is an everyday practice.

For example, just last week the Boothbay Region Garden Club Home and Garden Tour sold all 500 tickets again for the third year, and volunteers are directly responsible.

This happy fact is the reason for our thanks today and our list of participants is a pleasure to share: the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce, the Boothbay Register, Flagship Inn, Compass Rose, Harbor Theatre, Rocky Channel School District, St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Fire Dept. and the YMCA. You aided our efforts, each in your own way and it is hugely appreciated.

Hostesses, valets, flower arrangers, drivers, coordinators, chairs and homeowners — over 130 people working on this Home and Garden Tour for the pleasure of 500 visitors to our beautiful peninsula, this is astounding and we offer many thanks.

Homeowners: Ms. Connie Prince, Sue and John Hochstein, Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mariann and Mark Powell, Diane and Dennis Foley, and Margaret and Bob Reiser, thanks doesn’t seem to cover all the preparation and planning inside and outside of your wonderful properties. Five hundred visitors in one day, you’re awesome!

Special thanks to Nan Jackson, Jane Lunt, Jim Singer, Leslie Cook and Alice Schambra whose efforts were noticed throughout the tour, outstanding planning from our chairpersons once again, what a team! We could not have done this without you.

The final words today are “thank you,” many times over, to all who participated in any way. The proceeds from this tour helps fund our active scholarship programs, youth and elderly projects, and as always, beautifying our communities here on the Boothbay peninsula. Yes, we are certainly blessed.
