Giselaine’s Spa holds grand opening party

Hundreds attended Giselaine’s Spa Grand Opening Party, Thursday, June 22, at the spa’s location on the Boothbay Harbor Country Club campus. Music, refreshments and tours of the recently opened spa were offered to guests.

“Creating the spa was driven by my desire to enhance our overall membership experience,” said owner Giselaine Coulombe. “Each year we strive to expand our offerings. Following the addition of the Wellness Center which provided a fitness center with tennis and pickleball courts, I thought our members would really enjoy a luxurious spa.”

Elena Duralde, NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification), CID (certified interior decorator), is a Portland-based, senior interior designer with Knickerbocker Group. She and Coulombe worked together to create the spa’s elegant aesthetics. Neutral tones, minimalistic elements and thoughtful hidden details hallmark the spa’s contemporary motif, while wood beams and intermittent natural elements create interest through contrast.

“My goal was to create a space that was rooted in rustic elegance with a calm and relaxing atmosphere. I enjoyed working with Knickerbocker Group to achieve this goal,” said Coulombe.

Maine-based photographer and filmmaker David McLain’s 32 black and white silver gelatin prints of coastal landscapes are dotted throughout the spa to remind patrons they are in Maine. McLain is best known for his imagery surrounding intimate personal stories, including seven feature stories for National Geographic Magazine and a New York Times best-selling cookbook, “Blue Zones Kitchen.” Additionally, he was director of photography for the documentary “Bounce” which premiered at South by Southwest (SXSW) festival. His portfolio is filled with vibrant, colorful images – making this particular collection of monochromatic gelatins feel like a uniquely curated exhibit for Giselaine’s Spa.

The spa offers full services including massage therapy, hair services, mani/pedis, and skin care treatments including some med-spa skin care services using light therapy and lasers. Rather than services with a regional flair, the spa has opted for results-driven treatments with high end ingredients. A full spa menu is available at https://giselaines-spa.com/

While the spa is a lady’s day spa, Mondays are co-ed, and the spa offers a complete spa menu for men. Spa services are available to Boothbay Harbor Country Club members as well as guests of Boothbay Harbor Summer Cottages and Golf Villas.

The amenities are on par with expectations for a luxury spa experience. Pool, jacuzzi, infra-red sauna, and private lockers allow guests to linger before and after scheduled services. Outdoor spaces are private and inviting year-round.
