Dual call to artists for ‘Abstraction’ exhibition & Holiday Shop

River Arts in Damariscotta is inviting artists throughout Maine to submit artwork for the following two shows: “Abstraction” and the Holiday Shop.

Artists can submit up to three works for the Abstraction Exhibition. in any medium including sculpture, photography, collage, painting, ceramics, fiber and fine craft – representational or abstract.   Work can be delivered anytime during gallery hours until the deadline, which is Saturday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26   5-7 p.m. For more information about this call and entry form  visit the website riverartsme.org

Wiscasset-based artist Leonard Meiselman is juror for the exhibition. Born and raised in New York City, Meiselman received his art education at the Cooper Union, the Skowhegan School of Art in Maine, and the Cranbrook Academy in Michigan. Meiselman has had one-person exhibitions at the Camden Arts Center in London, the Yeshiva University Museum in New York, the Holocaust Center in Manhasset, and numerous other locations. Holiday Shop

River Arts also  invites artists to submit works for its Holiday Shop -  no entry fee applies for this show. We will be setting up a festive showroom featuring original artwork of all types for holiday sales. Works can be fine art as well as decorative or functional fine crafts.  We will be accepting original works including painting in all media, photography, prints, sculpture, fabric, weaving, glass, pottery, jewelry, wood or stone carving, ornaments, cards, mixed media and others upon approval.  We will also accept books by Maine writers.

Holiday Shop will be open from Nov. 15 until the end of the year.  We are expecting a wide range of homemade items, artworks and fine crafts. Artists may submit artwork beginning November 1. In general, we recommend small works up to 6 entries per artist.  Pieces must be priced at $100 (or lower) and River Arts will retain 35 percent commission on all sales.
