Dr. Shepard's book is exceptional
Dear Editor:
I greatly enjoyed reading the book, "A Surgeon's Slice of Life - A Memoir by Dr. Barclay Shepard." Dr. Shepard is a native of Boothbay Harbor. In 2001, he returned to live full-time in his family's beloved town. His book tells the story of an extraordinary man who accomplished incredible things in almost a century of life. The positive impact Barclay Shepard has had on others is immeasurable.
My wife and I will be donating a copy of Barclay's book to Boothbay Region High School through the Francis D. Aley Book Awards. This program recognizes outstanding students for their academic achievements. A book is presented to students being honored by their teachers for academic excellence and a duplicate book is added to the BRHS library collection.
The generosity of donors in our community allows for these awards to be presented each year. If community members are interested in being a donor book contributor, they should contact the office at BRHS. This year, Barclay Shepard's memoir was chosen to be one of the books presented to a student honored for their achievements.
If you would like to read something uplifting, I suggest your purchase Barclay's book. It is available at Sherman's Book Store in Boothbay Harbor.
