Our Lady Queen of Peace Church/All Saints Parish made a $1,220 donation to Community Lunch in support of its community involvement this winter.

Father Peter Shaba presented the check on Thursday, Feb. 29 in the lower chapel to Community Lunch representatives Tancy Mitchell and Lisa Hallinan. Church representatives Cheryl Higgins and Wilma Tatlock were also present.

On Feb. 11, Our Lady’s Ladies sponsored a bake sale with the intention of supporting the Community Lunch program. This project included approximately 25 bakers and produced a wide array of sweet and savory homemade goodies. There were pies, quiches, cookies, Whoopee pies, cakes, cupcakes and breads. Higgins and Tatlock co-chaired this event.

There was also an “at the door - at will collection” at the 9 a.m. Liturgy for the Super Bowl of Caring. This event was chaired by Becky Alley, Faith Formation Director for the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace.

These two fundraisers earned $321 and $289 respectfully. The amount was matched by All Saints Parish of which the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace is a member.

The Monday Community Lunch, held at Brady’s, was able to provide for 20 families identified as in need at Boothbay Region High School during the Christmas season. Money raised through donations at Community Lunch provided families with Hannaford and Amazon gift cards.
