CSD annual budget meeting May 19
Taxpayers will assemble in the gymnasium of Boothbay Region Elementary School at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 19 to decide whether they will approve the 2014-2015 school budgets. The meeting will take place in the Boothbay Region Elementary School gym.
The Community School District School Committee and Superintendent of Schools Eileen King recommend approval of a $9,311,932.76 total budget with $7,888,558 assessed to the towns of Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor.
The 2014-201 budget is up 2.48 percent, or $189,834 over the 2013-2014 budget of $9,048,572.
That unexpected $90,000 in subsidy, approved by the state after the CSD budget's adoption in late June 2013, was added to the 2014-2015 budget to lower the assessment to the towns.
The town of Boothbay Harbor's portion with 32 percent of the student population, is $2,547,489 ($60,747 over current year).
The town of Boothbay's portion, with 68 percent of the student population, is $5,341,069 ($129,087 over the current year).
The school committee will also be voting on the adoption of the adult education budget for 2014-2015 of $37,300. The adult ed budget is always voted on separately as dictated by the charter.
The breakdown: Boothbay Harbor's assessment, based on 172.5 students/32 percent of the population, $2,431,739, up 2.44 percent/$60,747.
Boothbay's assessment, based on 368 students/68 percent of the student population, rises 2.48 percent/$129,087.
