A crowd in the cottage
After a week full of real Ocean Point Casino activities, also celebrated by swimming, boating, fishing, tennis, golf, walking (often with dogs), the wonderful weekend of July 20-21 welcomed all four Turpie kids and their spouses and children to visiting together, a happy crowd of 16 in the cottage.
Eldest daughter Erica O'Connor and her husband Daniel from New Hampshire are spending a two-week vacation at the cottage with boys, Duncan, Marty, and Kevin and two dachshunds.
Daughter Andrea and husband Doug Steele came from Massachusetts with Trevor and Baby Anna. Dana and Eben Wilson came from Nobleboro with 11-month-old Elise and springer spaniel, Noodle. Bruce and Ellen brought the youngest new baby, Annabelle from Boston. The boys kept very busy selling lemonade, thanks to many kind and patient passers bys. The three smiling baby girls got lots of snuggles.
David and Croi Butterworth and Zoey Anne and Calum, along with Alison and David Butterworth joined the Turpies for a lively evening on Saturday. Many more of us had visiting friends and relatives to share the real Ocean Point essence with us. Please add your comments and visiting experiences, as many of these memories will continue to be handed down through the ages.
The Saturday Memorial Golf Tournament was dedicated in honor of Peter Dawson. Also on Saturday an indiscribabley special wedding ceremony took place at the Wilson Memorial Chapel. China McHold and Tom Cambell gave their vows to each other with her loving aunt conducting the service. Smiles, grins, and tears of joy warmed the chapel as the bell spread the joy over the waves. A vast etherial white tent erected on the McGonagal's lawn was bulging with great joy celebrating the blessing of the marriage.
Our neighbor and friend, Peter Panagore gave the Sunday sermon at the Wilson Memorial Chapel, then came up to the ballgame. Before game time, Jonathon Dawson spoke a homespun tribute to his dad that touched the hearts of all who knew Peter. So many other events will be written up later with more room to write.
