Concert for fuel
Dear Editor:
The Lincoln Arts Festival raised over $550 in donations at its annual free Charitable Cause Concert on Sunday, Feb. 23.
The best news is that the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club is matching donations for Fuel Assistance, so the concert will actually be responsible for contributing over $1,100.
On one of the warmest and driest Sundays in a while, concert participants heard a reading about a famous February Cape Cod Nor’easter from Tom Tavenner, but then lifted spirits with a sunshine-themed sing-along led by Carol Cragin. Suzanne Jones gave us songs about love, and the Rev. Mary Jo Zimmerli entertained with stories from her years as chaplain in a home for troubled children.
Pianist (and new LAF Board member) Brook Hubner expertly tied the program together with interspersed pieces from Beethoven, Chopin, and McDowell, as well as accompanying singers.
We thank our volunteer performers for their energy and time.
Thanks also to those board members who organized, provided refreshments, and helped in other ways: M.C. for the day, Denise Griffin, Jody Lunt, Estelle Appel, Carol Cragin and Barclay Shepard.
