Chase Point breakfast honors veterans
Chase Point in Damariscotta honored 30 men and women veterans for their services with a substantial breakfast on the first Wednesday of June.
This was the regular first Wednesday informal gathering of veterans and in addition to this unusual breakfast, they were also treated to a showing of the "Tuskegee Airmen," an account of both men and women black soldiers serving in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, where the returning pilots stressed the importance and dependability of women servicing their fighter planes.
This first Wednesday gathering of men and women from all armed services occurs each month from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Chase Point for coffee, donuts and informative program.
The July 5 gathering will feature George Robinson’s continued presentation of the action of the renowned 4th Maine during the Civil War’s first major land battle of Bull Run on July 16, 1861, when the untried Union army marched against the Confederate army resulting in a Federal retreat or route to Washington. It was here Thomas J. Jackson earned the nom de guerre, “Stonewall.”
All veterans are welcome to attend these informal gatherings. Call Jerry Miller, 207-563-1832, for more information.
