Changes at the annual Rotary Auction

Tue, 07/16/2019 - 8:45am

The annual Rotary Auction is fast approaching and there are some exciting improvements this year. There will be a new set up which will create a midway, allowing better access to all the tents with the entrances facing the midway. This will allow for easier access and circulation for auction goers. There will also be a designated and clearly marked parking area for the disabled for greater accessibility for all. There will be food vendors, and this year, a First Aid tent as well as special spots to get some shade, water and rest.

The Boutique and Art tents have been expanded and there are some very exciting treasures to be had. Collectors, decorators, and anyone furnishing a cottage will want to spend some time perusing these sites for those special items that can always be found. The Boutique and Art tents include curated china, dish ware of all kinds, glassware, decorative items, paintings and many other accessories for the home and cottage.

The Make-An-Offer tent will be open Friday evening from 4 to 6. This tent contains items, mainly furniture, that didn’t make it to the live auction tent mostly because of time constraints so there will be good, useful things to pick over. Fun for the treasure hunters among us.

The Auction’s regular features will return: the Silent Auction, the Book Tent, the Tool Tent with all sorts of mechanical and carpentry tools, and, of course, the ever popular Flea Market. The Auction tents will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3.

Thank you to our sponsors: Boothbay Region High School, Dead River Company, First Federal Savings, First National Bank, J & A Construction, J Edward Knight Insurance, Southport Island Marine, The Thistle Inn. Anyone wishing to join the list of sponsors may contact any Rotarian or the Auction co-chair.

Reminder: Donations of items is now closed until Aug. 30.
