Chamber’s primary goals
Dear Editor:
As many of you know, there have been some changes at the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce particularly as to what events the Chamber organizes and supports. The BBHRCC is a 501-C-6 not for profit, voluntary organization whose membership is comprised of both business entities and Friends of the Chamber. Its primary goals are to: bolster local businesses and the communities we serve; serve as guardian of the community’s economic well-being; advocate on the behalf of the business community and promote avenues of tourism.
Part of promoting the avenues of tourism includes having the Chamber put on events and this year they are: Windjammer Days in June, the Claw Down in September and Harbor Lights in December. In addition to these community events, the Chamber also has an Annual Awards Dinner, an Annual Meeting and several Business After Hours throughout the year that are open to members and non-members.
The Chamber helps to publicize and support member events by selling tickets for various nonprofits, sending our Visitor E-news (an electronic newsletter sent to over 5,000 people interested in the region) and my Executive Report, which is sent to over 350 members, listing events on our website calendar, hanging posters in our visitor centers, posting and sharing events on Facebook, and answering emails and phone calls.
For the second year in a row, we will attend the Fall Foliage Festival with materials to promote the region. We will also have a pumpkin locally grown by Sam Kaler on our lawn to encourage the more than 20,000 people who attend Damariscotta Pumpkinfest to also visit our region.
We are so appreciative of the community, volunteers, sponsors, our Board and our members who support the local community and make these events happen. The mission of the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce is to promote a positive business climate by focusing on advocacy, access and leadership. If you would like to get involved in the Chamber, be a part of our events or any of our members’ events, please stop by, give us a call or send us an email seamaine@boothbayharbor.com.
