Aug. 26, Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Cemetery District President Skip MacPhee discussed reaching out to Stevens Monument Co. for an estimate to repair several veterans' stones in Boothbay's Wylie Cemetery.

For Evergreen Cemetery, the district is paying True North $2,400 for survey work. The district also approved having its landscaper, Bahama Breeze Landscaping, remove Queen Anne's Lace in the cemetery's vacant lot to prevent it from spreading. 

As reported in the Register, the district's three-year annuity investment, which earns a 4.7% interest rate, is coming out of surrender. The district pulls interest from both this annuity and a five-year plan every month to support operations. Trustees previously approved reinvesting the funds in a new five-year annuity; interest rates are about 5.45%. MacPhee updated that rates had increased to 5.55%. 

The issue of tree removal at Pear Street Cemetery returned. After an in-person review and consulting a tax map, the board was unclear on whether or not the trees were on cemetery property. Contracting a surveyor was floated. The matter was tabled.
