Capital Area defeats 36ers, 10-6, in American Legion action
Capital Area remained unbeaten in American Legion action with a 10-6 victory over Boothbay at Sherman Field June 24. Capital Area is now 3-0, while Boothbay falls to 0-2. But the 36ers had a golden opportunity to defeat Capital Area. Boothbay trailed 1-0, but scored twice in the bottom of the second. However, Capital Area rallied, scoring four in the third and three in the fifth in building an 8-4 lead. The 36ers scored two more in the fourth and sixth innings.
In total, Boothbay scored six runs on six hits and was aided by three Capital Area errors leading to three unearned runs.
On offense, the 36ers had six singles from six batters: Aidan Sanborn, Liam Jacobs, Gryffin Kristan, Finn Harkins, Jacob Watkinson and Owen Cotta. Jacobs pitched 2.2 innings, allowed five earned runs on five hits, walked five and struck out two. In relief, Sanborn pitched 2.1 innings, allowed three hits, three earned runs, and walked one. Kristan pitched the final two innings. He allowed one hit, two earned runs, three walks and struck out two.
Boothbay travels to Gardiner on Thursday, June 27 to play the Dirigo Sturgeon (1-1).
