BRWD’s Southport water main project goes out to bid
Boothbay Region Water District (BRWD)’s Hendricks Hill Road water main replacement project has officially gone out to bid for construction. As previously reported in the Register, the work will convert 8,000 feet of seasonal water main along Hendricks Hill Road in Southport to a buried year-round main. The deadline for bids is June 26.
In other business, General Manager Weston Alley reported the treatment department has had to do “unexpected maintenance” over the past couple weeks due to equipment malfunctions, including a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) failure and replacement on a booster pump, a failed silicon pump, failed swing check in the sewer station and a failed regulator on the plant’s air compressor.
BRWD also recently received a $3,000 grant from Maine Municipal Association to buy safety-related equipment. The district has ordered a large, height-adjustable construction light.
