BRHS Class of 2025 graduates
Diplomas were handed out to the 39 members of the Boothbay Region High School Class of 2025 during Graduation Exercises in a humidity-filled Porter Memorial Gymnasium on Friday afternoon, June 6.
While the event programs made for makeshift fans, the hundreds of family members and friends watched, listened and cheered during the ceremony.
BRHS Principal Dr. Tricia Campbell provided a brief welcoming address, praising parents, the community, the graduates and faculty for helping to get the graduates where they are today.
After the faculty entered the gym to a standing ovation, the graduates marched into the gym, led by class marshal Neal Baldwin, to the familiar “Pomp and Circumstance.” The welcoming address was given by class salutatorian Anna Gosselin, followed by honors essayist and student body president Cleyton Splaine, the singing of the Alma Mater by the class, and the farewell address by class valedictorian Madeline Orchard.
The BRHS Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Mary Miller, sang “Unwritten,” a song written by Natasha Bedingfield, Danielle Brisebois and Wayne Rodrigues and produced by Rodrigues and Brisebois.
Superintendent of Schools Robert Kahler gave his address, which was followed by the awarding of the diplomas by Campbell and Allan Crocker, director of student activities, as each graduate was introduced by guidance counselor Leanne Burnham.
The large crowd cheered as the traditional commencement capping was held and as the class departed the gym. Outside, the class tossed their caps in the air to mark their graduation before the crowd filtered out to offer congratulations and take photos.
