BRES work update issued

AOS 98 Superintendent of Schools Robert Kahler has issued the following update on the reconstruction of Boothbay Region Elementary School following the February shut down due to flooding.

Demolition and Sanitizing:

Academic Wings

–Demolition in the academic wings is completed as of today

–Sanitizing is being completed in the K-2 and 3-5 Wings today

–The flood cut in the library will be sanitized tomorrow for drying to occur over the weekend

Gym

The gym floor demolition is scheduled to begin Monday.

Movers have relocated materials from the gym to locations within the building and to off-site storage this week

The entire gym floor will be replaced

Air Quality Testing

–Pre-occupancy air sample tests are slated for early next week

–Results will be back by early the week after next

–If the test results are positive and we receive clearance to reoccupy parts of the building, we will continue with our phased reopening plan with moving 7-8 back into the building as soon as is practicable.

–To minimize the loss of any further instructional time, materials will be moved over the weekend or during vacation.

–Construction areas are being / will be sealed off from the rest of the building.

Construction/Reconstruction

–Sheetrock has arrived on site and is in the process of being installed throughout the flood impacted areas

–Painters will be following along behind the sheetrock crews

–Flooring/Carpets will be installed after the painting is complete
