Boothbay Region Lions Club
The Boothbay Region Lions Club has long been proud to serve our local communities with dedication, compassion, and a strong spirit of volunteerism. As part of Lions Clubs International, our club is committed to the mission of “We Serve.” Locally, that means supporting neighbors in need, assisting with vision and hearing initiatives, funding scholarships, contributing to community improvement projects, and helping wherever we are needed most throughout the Boothbay region.
Our Lions Club relies on fundraisers to support our initiatives. Throughout the year you will see us at the Fall Foliage Fair selling fish chowder or asking if you would like a ticket to win a mini Christmas tree with scratch tickets. This past year we purchased a SPOT Vision Screening machine. This machine helps parents and school nurses recognize a vision problem early in a child's life. We look forward to supporting events like Project Graduation, tuxedos for the Grand March and the Christmas fund. We also give to the many other nonprofits in our area.
Our club is 18 members strong. Some have been members for over 30 years. Many of these members have received the Melvin Jones Award as a reward for their dedication and commitment to being a Lion. Some members are not able to attend meetings or help out at fundraisers - this is where you might fit in. Our strength comes from community members who are willing to step forward and make a difference. When you join the Boothbay Region Lions Club, you will: Make a meaningful impact close to home; Build lasting friendships with fellow volunteers; Develop leadership and service skills and; Be part of a respected international service organization. You do not need special experience-just a willingness to serve and a desire to give back. Whether you have a few hours to offer or are looking for a deeper level of involvement, your participation matters.
We meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays September - July at 6 p.m. at the East Boothbay Fire Station on School Street. Stop by for dinner on a meeting night or call King Lion Glenn Tilton for more information.
