Boothbay Region Historical Society is happy to raffle Robert Mitchell's stunning black and white photograph "Turbulent Sea at Ocean Point" as a fundraiser for the museum. The photograph, 41-inch tall by 29-inch wide, is framed in black with an acid-free mat. It may be viewed at the Historical Society museum, 72 Oak Street, Boothbay Harbor, diagonally across from The First bank.

The winner of this raffle will also receive Robert Mitchell's coveted 2020 calendar, the 20th anniversary edition of "Around Boothbay Harbor."

Mitchell, who currently resides on Southport Island, has lived and photographed in Maine for over 40 years. When the nationally recognized newscaster Charles Kuralt ventured to Maine to film a "Sunday Morning" episode for Charles Kuralt's “America,” Robert Mitchell was commissioned to photograph Kuralt for the cover of his book. The two soon became friends, a most happy memory for Mr. Mitchell.

The society thanks Robert Mitchell Photography and Ae Home/Wilde Design for this donation made in recognition of Boothbay Region Historical Society’s mission to promote interest in the history of the Boothbay region and to preserve that history for future generations to enjoy.

The drawing will take place at the society’s annual Harbor Lights open house on Dec. 7. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and may be purchased at the society’s museum or by sending a check and self-addressed stamped envelope to BRHS, P.O. Box 272, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.
