Boothbay Region Food Pantry now open in the evening
The purpose of the Boothbay Region Food Pantry is to help neighbors who need a little extra food assistance during the month. Yet, some families find it difficult to make it to the pantry because it is open only during the daytime.
In an attempt to further the mission and outreach of the organization, we are pleased to announce added evening hours to our current calendar of operations. For the next four months, in addition to the regular Friday schedule, the Food Pantry will now be open on the second Monday of each month from 4:30 - 6 p.m. The added evenings of operation are: March 14, April 11, May 9, and June 13. On those evenings, the doors will open at 4 p.m.
This will be a trial period to see if evening hours would accommodate the needs of more residents in the area. The Monday schedule is open to new clients who cannot make it to the pantry during the day and to current clients who need evening hours instead of their regular Friday time. Please help us spread the word about this new option for pantry use.
The Food Pantry Board of Directors would like to thank the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor for generously providing the availability for additional pantry usage. If you have any questions about the new pantry hours, please contact Fleet Davies 207-350-4077.
The Boothbay Region Food Pantry is located on the lower level of the Congregational Church at 125 Townsend Avenue, Boothbay Harbor (enter through the parking lot on Eastern Avenue). In addition to the new Monday hours, the pantry is open each Friday from noon to 2 p.m. Clients will be admitted to the pantry waiting area at 11:30 a.m. Those wishing to pick up only fresh fruit, vegetables, baked goods, and other perishables may do so any week, after all scheduled clients have been served (typically 1:50 p.m.). Please remember to bring your own bags for all food items you receive at the pantry.
The Boothbay Region Food Pantry serves the towns of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, and Southport. New clients should provide proof of residence, such as their car registration slip, a recent utility bill, lease or rent receipt. Income guidelines apply.
