Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club
Last Thursday Boothbay Harbor Police Chief Doug Snyder was our speaker. He has had an interesting life, leading to his role as Boothbay Harbor Police Chief. We're so fortunate to attract competent and caring people like Chief Doug Snyder to lead the Boothbay Harbor Police force.
Then, we welcomed Boothbay Region Ambulance Service Chief Dan Gardner as a new member of our club. He was an interesting and engaging speaker last month, but also seemed to enjoy the casual banter, teasing and laughter of our meeting and even joined right in. We are delighted we didn't scare him away and he even decided to join the club.
This week we welcome Cindy Wade, an RN and president of MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital. She will talk about the Maine Health rebranding (we'll see if I got it right). She’ll also share some of the challenges and goals of the healthcare system that I will have a hard time not calling Miles Hospital. Cindy is a dynamic, fun speaker dedicated to improving our local access to good quality health care. A topic all too important to many of us.
Then, next week is the annual Christmas party with our world famous Yankee Swap, potluck appetizers and desserts, crazy Christmas attire contest and the last chance to banter with one another before we take a two week hiatus over the holidays.
This is the last Saturday the Big, Gray Rotary Club Barn is open. Dress warm; no heat in that building. But, thank you Mike Thompson, Ham Meserve and all the other members who had the foresight to build it. I bet there was a lot of banter, laughter and teasing while that was going up. It's a huge building.
We meet most every Thursday at 6 pm at our Clubhouse, 66 Montgomery Road, Boothbay Harbor. Please join us, you’ll be glad you did.
