Boothbay Harbor Police issue storm alert

Fri, 01/28/2022 - 9:15am

As most everyone is aware there is a large snowstorm packing extremely strong winds headed our way. There will be a parking ban on municipal streets from 10 a.m. Saturday the 29th to noon Sunday the 30th. Another ban will be in place Sunday from 10 p.m. to Monday 8 a.m.

Public works will be working very hard to keep roads passable. We are asking that everyone be mindful of this ban as officers will not have time to track people down to move vehicles, a vehicle left in the roadway will be towed at owner expense ... As always you are welcome to park in the municipal parking lots in the designated areas.

The police are also asking people to remember to check on your neighbors and friends. You can always call us to check on someone at 633-5616. This is a good time to be sure generators are gassed up and in working order, and during the storm we suggest furnace vents are kept clear from snow drifts to avoid issues with fumes or technical malfunctions.

The town office will be open as a warming station in the event anyone is in need.

Public works and police highly suggest that if it is not an emergency please do not drive anywhere until the storm passes. Due to blowing snow drifts it will be very difficult to keep all roads passable during the heart of the blizzard. The conditions are being described as a “white-out.”
