BHSD board chair resigns, budget work continues
On Nov. 3, Boothbay Harbor Sewer District (BHSD) Chair Deryl Kipp announced his resignation from the board of trustees, effective after the Nov. 17 meeting. Clerk Russell Hoffman will take over.
In other business, the trustees completed their second budget workshop. Some areas, such as employee benefits and training-related travel, increased due to the district’s larger staff. BHSD is finally employing a full crew after issues filling jobs. Trustees also reduced some line items, including slashing the grounds maintenance budget by $4,000 ($5,000 to $1,000).
As reported in the Register, the district is eyeing an about 2-3% budget increase: $2,498,000 compared to last year's $2,427,581. Household rate sheets are forthcoming. Numbers are still subject to change.
Six manholes were refurbished on Sea Street, Maddox Street, Route 27, Townsend Avenue and Commercial Street, with new tar being laid down to prevent damage from plowing.
