Dear Editor:

I was so glad to read that accessible rail service may soon be returning to this area. When I was a child, well over 60 years ago, we had a little bus that met the train service in Wiscasset twice a day. When passenger rail service was discontinued, this came to an end. Prior to this, we on the peninsula had an easy connection to the rest of the country, which we have sorely missed.

One of my happiest childhood memories was the train ride to Portland with mother for school shopping. Perhaps this may be a reality for other children. This could indeed be “Back to the Future.”
