Garden Club president to present on spring ephemeral plants

Mon, 04/01/2024 - 10:00am

Boothbay Region Garden Club President Irene Fowle will be presenting on the timely subject of Spring Ephemerals at the Club’s next monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 10 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church (32 Emery Lane, Boothbay Harbor). The public is welcome to attend and refreshments will be served!

Ephemerals are mostly forest dwelling plants with a very short life cycle, often growing only in the early spring before the trees are leafed out. Two common spring ephemerals on the Central Coast of Maine are the Yellow Trout Lily and the Bluet.

A full-time Maine resident for around 25 years, Irene has been a member of the Boothbay Region Garden Club for many years and is also a long-time member of the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club where she is currently the executive secretary.
