Southport will address storm damage at the town’s Cozy Harbor property. Selectmen received correspondence from Louise Monroe c who is a lessee of the Cozy’s Dockside restaurant. Monroe sought assistance in repairing storm damage. She also provided photos showing the destruction.

During the April 24 meeting, selectmen directed the public works department, consisting of Adam Harkins and Steve Markowitz, to make the repairs.

In other action, selectmen approved a Southport Yacht Club Junior Sailing Foundation request to rent the town hall. The club will hold an awards banquet on Aug. 16.

The board received correspondence from the William H. Brewer Accounting Firm in Bath indicating a data breach. William Brewer wrote in late February the firm experienced an unauthorized breach of their servers. “There is no evidence that any data was extracted, however, it can’t be ruled out. Upon discovery, we immediately engaged our IT specialist and a cyber security specialist,” he wrote.

The firm has neither been contacted by the party responsible for the attack, nor plans to pay a ransom. Brewer wrote he will implement all reasonable security measures in connection with the computer system and create new policies “strengthening our system by reducing risk facing Brewer and everyone who uses the internet.”

Selectmen meet next at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 1 in the town hall.
