“This ‘Earthshine’ shot is one I have been planning for more than a year. It is made up of nearly 14 images to capture the solar winds, the prominences around the disc and the moon surface. The blue cast comes from the earth being the reflector to light the surface of the moon. The earth is mostly blue which is why the moon surface looks bluish in this scene taken at totality. This was not an easy shot to get and I am happy with my first attempt at Earthshine.” – Michael Leonard Mike Leonard
