CG Auxiliary Flotilla 2-5 Vessel Safety Check events

As boats are uncovered and readied for another season the questions always arise, Do I have everything I’m supposed to have on board? Has anything stopped working over the winter that I’ve missed? If I get boarded by the Coast Guard, will I pass?
An easy and free way to answer all those questions is to get a Vessel Safety Check (VSC) by a member of CG Auxiliary Flotilla 2-5 in Boothbay Harbor. The CG Auxiliary checks the same items that the Coast Guard or Marine Patrol will check if you’re stopped or boarded, but instead of a citation and possible fine for a violation, the Auxiliary gives the owner a list of items that need attention. No one besides the boat owner and the examiner will see the list.
Events currently scheduled across the area:
June 10: Robinhood/Direcktor Marina
June 17: Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club
June 17: Hodgdon Yacht Services (Southport)
June 24: Carousel Marina
June 24: Tugboat Marina
June 24: Brown`s Marina
June 24: Ocean Point Marina
July 1: Kennebec Tavern Marina
The Vessel Safety Check events are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon.
If you’d like to get your boat inspected but can’t get to one of the scheduled events, please go to the Flotilla 2-5 website www.flotilla25.org and click on “Vessel Safety Checks” for a link to schedule a VSC at your convenience.
