Dear Editor:

Danny Beal, our own Piano Man, could have been Billy Joel if he had followed the breadth of his talent. He was, instead, one of our “Great Unknowns” who preferred to entertain his local audience wherever in the world he or they happened to be.

Danny saw our need to hear certain songs and remembered to sing them when we needed it. The material world has lost a brilliant presence for gift-giving through the universal language of music and song.

Summer in Boothbay Harbor will never be the same again.
