Katherine Hilscher, daughter of Deborah and Robert Hilscher of Boothbay Harbor, graduated from North Yarmouth Academy, where she was a top ten honor student.

Katherine served as the Executive Council president and class secretary. She was involved with NYA drama productions, at the Boothbay Playhouse, and is a longtime participant in the Junior Theatre Festival.

During her years at NYA, she qualified for the state cross-country meet and contended at state outdoor track meets as a member of several relay teams.

Hilscher sang with the NYA Varsity Singers, Treble Choir, and Mixed Chorus. She served as a member of the press corps at the Maine Model United Nations and was recognized this year with the Diplomacy Award in the UN Economic and Social Council. She earned magna cum laude honors on the National Latin Exam and was awarded a Silver Key in the Scholastic Art and Writing Award.

Hilscher volunteers her time with the Senior Youth Group and serves as a junior deacon at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor. She is a dock worker at the Tidal Transit Kayak Company during the summer. She received the Rotary Youth Leadership Award and attended the Harvard Crimson High School Journalism Conference.

Hilscher plans to attend Middlebury College in the fall.
