The Second Congregational Church, UCC in Newcastle will celebrate the gift of music during the worship service on June 12 at 10 a.m. This is a Sunday when the liturgy, congregational song, and special anthems all center on the gift of music.

The choir will open the service with “Cantate Domino” by Guiseppe Pitoni (1657-1743). Other anthems will include “I Sat Down Under His Shadow” by Edward Bairstow, “The Best of Rooms” by Randall Thompson, “Thank You God: Pelo Tza Rona” by Daryl Hollinger.

The final benediction response will be the Amen from John Rutter’s “The Lord Bless You and Keep You.” The congregation will join the choir in several arrangements of hymns about music. Timpani, bongos, cowbells, handbells, maracas, organ and piano will accompany the singing.
