Superintendent reaches out to parents
The following is a letter Superintendent of Schools Eileen King wrote to parents about safety in the AOS 98 district schools. Read the accompanying article here.
Dear Parents:
We are saddened by the tragic events that occurred in Connecticut on Friday. I know you join me in mourning the senseless loss of students and staff at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. Friday was a tragic day for our country, and it was especially hard for those who work in our schools and who have dedicated their lives to our children.
Over the years we have developed and maintained extensive crisis response plans. These plans contain established security protocols to help minimize the possibility that our students may be placed in a dangerous situation.
We are very fortunate to have a strong working relationship with the Boothbay Harbor Police Department and the Lincoln and Sagadohoc County Sheriff’s Department. Together we are committed to doing whatever we can to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all who attend our schools.
Our entire staff is on hand to address any questions or concerns you or your child may have. We are working hard to maintain a “business as usual” environment in our schools, but remain ready to assist our students in any way.
AOS 98 is committed to making school safety our priority, and will continue to work with our Law Enforcement partners to assess our schools and ensure that our students are safe and secure.
Eileen King
