Photography group to start at Community Center
Starting June 21, the Community Center will host a twice-monthly group devoted to those who share an interest in photography.
Group organizer Robert Crink is hoping the meetings will attract “like-minded people” who enjoy taking photos and would like to take better pictures.
Members of the group, which is being called “Ordinary Photography Plus,” will meet at the center and travel to different locations every month to take photos.
The second meeting of the month will be held at the center and at that time members will share the photos they have taken. This will provide everyone with “a way to take pictures and think about them,” Crink explained. He expects that discussions will involve “reflections, shadows and when to break the rules of composition.”
Crink is quick to point out that this is not intended to be a “club” or a “class” and will not be competitive as some photography groups are. Instead, Crink is looking forward to facilitating a group that is “low-keyed, relaxed and fun.”
All levels of photographers are welcome as long as they have a working knowledge of their camera. Members must be at least 12 years old to participate.
Crink’s interest in photography began in 1963 when he purchased his first camera. A self-taught photographer, he lived in Birmingham, Michigan for many years working for Chevrolet as a style liaison. There, his eye for detail was put to good use and over his long career he worked on the Camaro, the Chevelle Super Sport and the Nova among others.
After retirement in 1999, Crink moved to Edgecomb. His photography can be seen on the Edgecomb town website (www.edgecomb.org). He had his first show at the Community Center in March and frequently takes photographs for the Boothbay Region Health & Wellness Foundation.
