Community Souper Bowl of Caring Challenge
The Boothbay Region Food Pantry depends on the yearly outpouring of donations of non- perishable food and money gifts on Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday. For the past six years, our local community of churches have been the big game day team players ... gifting thousands of dollars in money and food at a time when our local Food Pantry is caring for many more clients during the cold winter months. The churches are gearing up again.
A challenge is going out to the entire community ... businesses, nonprofit groups, schools, healthcare or private sector, etc. for help. Think about creative ways you can encourage giving on Super Bowl Sunday. Place a big box in the workplace for food donations or jug for money gifts. Having a party? Ask your guests to bring a hostess gift to aid the food pantry. Get creative, people love being involved in something different.
Remember, when many are out shopping for all the tasty snacks and beverages for Super Bowl Sunday celebrations, folks in your neighborhoods are just trying to get a can of soup or box of cereal to eat. Be a hero in your workplace or neighborhood – help raise awareness of the need at our local food pantry.
How can you help?
Volunteers will be on duty at the Boothbay Region Food Pantry on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The newly enlarged and efficient Food Pantry is located on the lower level of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor. Drop in with your donations of non-perishable food and money gifts. One dollar from your pocket will buy four meals from the Good Shepherd Food Bank. Checks made payable to Boothbay Region Food Pantry.
C’mon team … let’s score a "touchdown" for the Boothbay Region Food Pantry.
