The third time was not a charm as the Winthrop Ramblers defeated the Lady Seahawks' field hockey team for the third time this season, 7-1, in the quarterfinal round of the Eastern Maine Class C tournament on Tuesday.

The host Ramblers (13-1-1) dominated the game, leading in shots on goal, 19-1, and in penalty corners, 9-1. Winthrop, seeded second, led at halftime, 3-0.

Last week, Boothbay (3-12) lost 2-0 at home to Winthrop and its other loss to the Ramblers was 5-1 on September 14.

This is the second straight year Boothbay has been eliminated from the playoffs by Winthrop, who will host third-seeded Stearns in the semifinals on Saturday.
