Water main repaired on Pear Street
Boothbay Region Water Distict Supervisor Jon Ziegra advised that the water main on Pear Street was repaired around 3:30 a.m. and that all Pear Street residents were "back in water."
Ziegra added that it may take until this afternoon for the water pressure to be restored in the pipes.
"Some areas in the region, particularly those at higher elevation, will continue to experience lower than normal water pressure for the next few hours. Our storage tanks are being refilled to normal levels as quickly as possible," Ziegra said.
Pear Street will be closed to thru traffic through Monday, when BRWD employees will be repairing the road.
Ziegra still is uncertain about what caused the break in the cast iron main to occur.
At this time, the Department of Health has not issued a boil water order. The BRWD will be taking water samples for the DOH, as required, today.
“Everything was properly flushed.,” Ziegra said. “I think we're in pretty good shape."
