This week at The Harbor Theatre: Muppets, ‘No God, No Master’; and coming soon, ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’
In “Muppets Most Wanted,” the entire gang embarks on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe's most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine (the World's “Number One Criminal”) and a dead ringer for Kermit the Frog, and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, a.k.a. “Number Two,” portrayed by Ricky Gervais. The film also stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon.
“Muppets Most Wanted” features all-star cameo appearances including Tony Bennett, Selma Hayek, Frank Langella, Ray Liotta, and Stanley Tucci. “Muppets Most Wanted” PG, plays Wednesday, April 9 and Thursday, April 10 at 7 p.m.
“No God No Master”
When a series of package bombs show up on the doorsteps of prominent politicians and businessmen in the summer of 1919, U.S. Bureau of Investigation Agent William Flynn (David Strathairn) is assigned the task of finding those responsible. He becomes immersed in an investigation that uncovers an anarchist plot to destroy democracy. Based on true events of the 1920s, the film sets the stage for a timely drama with resoundingly similar parallels to the contemporary war on terrorism and the role government plays to defeat it.
“No God, No Master” was directed, written and produced by Terry Green. Filmed in Milwaukee, Wis., at locations including Villa Terrace, South Shore Park Pavilion, City Hall and the old Pabst Brewery, it stars: Strathairn, Sam Witwer, Alessandro Mario and Ray Wise.
“No God, No Master,” has been a film festival favorite, winning numerous awards including “Best Actor” (Strathairn), the “Audience Award” at the Ashville Film Festival and the “Award of Excellence” at the Indie Fest.
Reviewing for WBAI radio, Prairie Miller writes “like ‘12 Years A Slave,’” a dark chapter and necessary conversation in American history, brought to life on the screen, and a cautionary dramatic illumination, touching on how an unexamined history is doomed to repeat itself today."
“No God, No Master” plays Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m.; Sunday, April 13 at 3 p.m. Monterey Media is pleased to make this film available to The Harbor Theatre for an exclusive Maine screening
