Boothbay Region High School senior Laura Chapman, ranked third in the state, battled her way to the semifinal round of the 2025 girls state singles tennis tournament at Colby College in Waterville on Saturday, May 17 before losing to second-ranked Molly Tefft of Brunswick, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, according to the Maine Principals’ Association website.

Tefft went on to lose the championship to top-ranked Sofia Kirtchev of Falmouth, 6-2, 6-3.

Chapman won two matches before her loss to Tefft. She defeated Alice Korzekwa of Presque Isle, 6-3, 6-0, and Lilia Root of Thornton Academy, 6-3, 6-3.
