Considering the position you are running for, what do you feel are the three most pressing issues?
-
Water Quality and Infrastructure Improvement
Maintaining and enhancing water quality is the foundation of the Boothbay Region Water District’s mission. As we continue to grow, it is essential that we invest in modernizing our aging infrastructure to ensure clean and safe drinking water for all residents. This includes upgrading pipelines, improving filtration systems, and preparing for future demands with sustainable water sourcing practices. -
Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship
Climate change poses a unique challenge to our water resources. Sea level rise, droughts, and increased storm frequency may affect both the quantity and quality of available water. I am committed to supporting our sustainable water management practices, including conservation efforts and watershed protection. Ensuring that future generations have access to the same high-quality water we enjoy today is a priority. -
Customer Affordability and Fairness
We must balance the need for infrastructure upgrades with affordability for our customers. I support rates that are fair, especially for low-income households, while still addressing necessary capital improvements. Offering transparent communication about rate structures and finding cost-effective solutions for necessary infrastructure repairs and upgrades is key to keeping services affordable for all.
Any other thoughts on why you are running or what you can bring to the office?
I am running for a second term on the Boothbay Region Water District because I am deeply committed to ensuring our community continues to have access to clean, safe, and affordable water. Over the past term, we’ve made progress in upgrading infrastructure, and I want to continue that momentum. I bring to the role a combination of understanding the needs of our local citizenry and a passion for protecting our natural resources.
As we face challenges related to climate change, growing demand, and the need for sustainable practices, There is a significant increase on tourism in our area which requires increased demands on infrastructure and water. I believe that staying focused on long-term planning, customer service, and environmental responsibility will guide BRWD toward a sustainable future. I’m dedicated to listening to the community’s needs, working with fellow board members, and providing leadership that prioritizes both environmental stewardship and customer affordability.
