Editing and self-publishing for independent authors workshop December 19
If you have written a book, or are in the process of writing one, the editing and self-publishing for independent authors workshop being offered through Central Lincoln County Adult Education will offer you options for publication you may not have thought about before.
Now is the best time to finish your manuscript and learn about the publishing options available to independent authors. It is important that self-publishing is done correctly and with knowledge of how the process works in the real world.
Author and editor Genie Dailey will take authors through the steps of the editing process and provide useful tips for writers from an editor's point of view. Dailey is the author of “Mind Your P's and Q's (and Your A, B, C's): Tips for Writers — from an Editor's Point of View.”
Jane Karker, president of Maine Authors Publishing & Cooperative will discuss the changes in the printing and publishing industry that have created a boom in self-publishing, also known as "independent (indie) publishing." She will discuss independent and "cooperative-style" self-publishing; and she’ll guide authors through the steps needed to publish responsibly and effectively as well as how to avoid the many pitfalls in the ever-changing world of independent publishing. You will learn about editing, e-books, marketing plans and the technical assistance you need to get your book in print.
The workshop will be held at Skidompha Public Library, on Thursday, Dec. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. The cost is $24 if you register by December 12 and $29 for all other registrations.
