Upcoming classes at Adult Ed
During the first week of November at Boothbay Region Adult Ed you can learn how to use MS Excel for home or business, and the measures you can take to guard your computer when emailing or using the Internet. Or you can take a beginner course to become comfortable when working on your computer. What about a relaxing new hobby? Join Pat to learn or relearn how to crochet.
In Internet and Email Security, a two evening class, on November 4 and 6 you’ll learn about identity theft, viruses and spyware. These are issues that threaten everyone who uses email and the Internet. They can also affect your computer and slow it down. Learn how to protect yourself from these threats. The class meets from 6 to 8 p.m. and the fee is $25.
If you're new to computers or have tried them but are still not comfortable, then you’ll want to take Beginner Computer. In this his hands on class you’ll learn to navigate through the Windows environment. We will work together step by step. to cover the basics: mouse & keyboard, using email, the Internet, create, save and retrieve documents. This four session class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, November 5-14 from 6 to 8 p.m., and the cost is $45.
Don’t forget Basic Excel a hands-on introduction to the powerful Microsoft spreadsheet application on October 28-29, and 30.
Crocheting is a creative and relaxing hobby. In Beginner Crochet you'll learn basic crochet stitches such as chain, single and double crochet. We'll also cover yarn types, gauging, reading a simple pattern and finishing. You'll make a wearable scarf, simple wash cloth & hot plate mat for yourself or to give as a gift. Join Pat Carmolli for this fun class. Call Adult Ed at 207-633-3224 for a list of supplies to bring. This class meets Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the fee is $30.
There are still a few spaces left for Explore The World of Cheese at Eventide on Monday, Nov. 4 from6:30 to 8 p.m. Join Kim and Denise for a fun, informative evening where you will taste an assortment of cheeses, learn about their unique textures, buying, storing, serving, and how to create a delicious cheese plate for special gatherings. The fee of $23 includes the cheese tasting.
