Enjoyment and learning at Seeds of Knowledge open house
It was a fun-filled educational day for children who attended an open house at Seeds of Knowledge Education Center on September 8 in Wiscasset.
Children from around the Midcoast enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities and had the opportunity to meet the teachers.
Spanish instructor, Lissette Gonzalez-Griffin, taught the children Spanish through fun songs, books, and simple conversations.
Brie Blunt, the art teacher, guided children in creating their own “Footprint Characters.”
Children also explored science topics, like sound vibrations and sounding boards by making their own “Clucking Chicken” with a plastic cup, string and a damp sponge.
The amazing trick of picking up a rice-filled bottle with only a chopstick taught children about the force of friction. Math was also incorporated into the open house with the children making their own abacus.
It was a wonderful afternoon of learning at Seeds of Knowledge. Homeschool and afterschool classes are set to begin the week of September 16. For more information, please visit www.seedsofknowledgeec.com or call 207-841-2704.
