Rev. Juliana Anderson at All Saints September 8
On the last Sunday of this summer season, All Saints By-the-Sea welcomes the Reverend Juliana Collins Anderson to preach and conduct services. The celebration of Holy Communion will be at 8 a.m. and Morning Prayer will follow at 10 a.m. A social hour with refreshments follows the 10 a.m. service. On Tuesday, Sept. 10, Rev. Anderson will lead a discussion on the Church porch
Anderson has served as associate, rector and interim rector of parishes in Massachusetts and Rhode Island where she worked with youth and lay leaders to build stronger parishes for the future. At the diocesan level she was chair of the Parish Linkage Committee with Manchester, England and was the president of the Massachusetts Episcopal Clergy Association. She currently resides in both Providence and West Boothbay Harbor, enjoying kayaking and boating as well as just watching the Maine coast in the colder months. She and her husband Will consider themselves “year-round-part-time-from-away” residents of Maine.
Following a lifelong interest, Juliana is a poet and a member of the Ocean State Poets in Rhode Island. For the last four years, she has been both host and executive producer of GoodNEWSRI, a cable television show about people, places and events in Rhode Island that build communities.
The church is on Southport Island on All Saints Road about two miles on your left as you drive south on Route 238 (look for the Episcopal Church sign by the side of the road). Parking is available along Route 238, or if necessary, in the limited number of handicapped parking spaces off All Saints Road. A golf cart will ferry persons from the handicapped lot to the church steps. You may also come to church by private boat or by the tour boat Novelty, which leaves Boothbay Harbor from Pier 8 at 9 a.m. Novelty picks up passengers from the church dock at 11:40 a.m. for return to Boothbay Harbor.
The very beautiful and simple wood chapel is open for quiet prayer and meditation during the week.
