On July 6 at 9 a.m., Southport Central School’s Playground Committee will be hosting a ceremony for the official opening of the new natural playground. The Committee welcomes all to attend (especially alumni), and the Gaudette Family will be on hand to cut the ribbon to officially open the playground and the Ramona Gaudette Mud Kitchen, which is dedicated to our beloved school cook of 57 years. Light refreshments will be served. 

This three-year project was guided by William Joyce of Carson Douglas Landscape Architecture and constructed by John Copeland - Kennebec Trail Company. In island tradition, the new playground was solely funded by donations, which were so generous, the Committee voted to expand the project to include a portable ice rink, which was a source of great community pride and excitement this winter.
