News and Notes from the Community Center
Happy Equinox as of last Saturday at 2:50 a.m. Was anyone up to notice? What did you see? There was an (almost) equal amount of sun per day in both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. In other words, Happy Fall! The leaves are turning and some of the Horse Chestnut and Elm trees are shedding their missiles!
This coming week: I heard from Kitty Hartford that VIP (Visually Impaired People) will meet at The Community Center next Tuesday, 1:15-2:30 p.m. I hope all of you who are involved can attend.
Pat McKee called me too. She will resume her dance classes on Oct. 18 here at The Community Center. Mark your calendars. Caution… She’s in very good shape, having taught her dance class all summer outside at Spruce Point Inn. And Jean Larkin would love to teach anyone interested in beginning drawing. Well, after the summer, we are picking up inside for classes. There is still room for more, so if you have some gift you’d like to share with a group, please feel free to contact us. Thank you.
Don’s forget vegetable deliveries: On Fridays only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for a few more weeks, the Food Pantry will deliver beautiful, very fresh lettuces and veggies by the boxful! Please bring a bag and help yourself! To whet your appetite, check out our Facebook page Friday mornings to see a photo of our latest delivery. (www.facebook.com/boothbaycommunitycenter.)
Transportation needs for the community are increasing! We would love extra help volunteering to drive folks who do not have the ability to get to medical appointments, the grocery store, or personal care appointments. I guarantee you will hear some interesting stories of people/places on the peninsula. If you have a reliable car, up-to-date insurance, and a few extra hours once in a while, we’d love to have you help The Community Center with this critical need. Please call The Community Center if you would like to help us. 633-9876. Thank you in advance.
