Juniper and McKown Points
Hold on to your hat! Summer 2023 is off and running. On Sunday night, June 25, the Welcome Back Reception at the Community House at 6 p.m. kicks off the season. Just show up with your favorite beverage and an appetizer to share.
What really starts the season is the return of Dave and Becky for the summer. The family is here and Dave and Susan are on the courts. There are enough tennis events to warrant its own column. Check the JPVIS website often to keep up. Tonight, the 22nd, there is a mixed doubles round robin at 5:30. On July 4th come out for the parent/child tournament at 11 a.m. Sign up with Dave.
If you have promised yourself that this is the summer to get in shape, you can start with Joan Warburton-Phibbs’ Thursday night “Pick Me Up” movement class from 5 to 6 at the Community House. And on Saturday mornings join Romee May’s Yoga class from 8:45 to 10. Both of these classes are by donation directly to the instructors.
If you like to work out with rakes, clippers and weed whackers, show up with your favorite gear at the Community House this Saturday, June 24 at 9:30 a.m. for Spring Clean-Up day. The grounds could use a good facelift.
Bought your Lobster Bake tickets yet? Its coming up fast, Saturday, July 1. Go to the JPVIS website and buy them now! This may be your only chance this summer to enjoy a $25 lobster dinner.
Chairs Jean Dilley and Cindy Gagne are checking off their spread sheets and will deliver a fun and organized Lobster Bake in and outside the Community House. Volunteers make it happen so please contact them to help out.
As always I appreciate your news. Please send to me at annedooley@mindspring.com The early deadline for next week is Thursday evening (tonight).
Once again a big thank you to the Boothbay Register for carrying our column throughout the summer. Online posting is grand but nothing beats seeing your name on real newsprint.
