We all know that there are moments important enough to get out the news, and this is it! The traditional Chicken Barbecue will be held on July 6 at the Casino. Maryellen Bertrand will take calls at 207-633-2664 for tickets on the weekends of June 22-23 and 29-30.  

Donna Logan will handle the ticket sales by phone at 207-633-7202 from June 25 to June 28. Then Donna will be available at the Casino on Wednesday July 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. and Friday July 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. Prices will remain the same as last year: Adults: $14 and Children: $8.

On July 10, Barbara Walsh, Pulitzer Prize author of an outstanding true sea tale, will present “August Gale.” I’ve heard it, read it, and was spellbound by both the story and presentation. It should be a great night.

The exercise classes begin on July 2 at the Casino with Sarah J. ready to get us back in shape by offering Zumba at 8:45-9:30 a.m. followed-up by Low Impact/Senior Fitness at 10-10:45 a.m.

During the quiet times from September to June, John and I have discovered great interesting family places to visit with two elderly elephants in Hope near Rockland and an Animal Sanctuary in Mount Vernon about 16 miles beyond Augusta. The entrance fees help to pay the upkeep of the animals. Just a suggestion for a change of pace this year.
