Boothbay received a Safety Enhancement Grant for $1,113.69 May 14 from the Maine Municipal Association Workers’ Compensation Fund. The Ed MacDonald Enhancement and Scholarship grants provide financial assistance to the fund’s members for buying safety equipment or services to help reduce the frequency and severity of workplace injuries.

The grant programs are designed to prevent injuries and improve workplace safety for Maine employees. The reduction in employee injuries also benefits the taxpayers by lessening lost work hours, cost of claims and potential  overtime expenses. The MMA has awarded grants since 1999.
