Dear Editor:

Recently I had my first COVID-19 vaccine at our local YMCA. I was very pleased and impressed with the overall experience. It was obvious that great care, planning and communication between the Y and medical teams had taken place prior to the start of the overall vaccines.

The volunteers in the parking lot were pleasant and helpful directing me to the door, which was well marked with the time of the next appointment. There, another person brought me inside where I was met by someone who asked me the appropriate health questions. Another volunteer walked me to the next area for personal I.D. questions and finally I was walked to the spot where I would receive my vaccine. A very kind and professional nurse gave me the shot and waited the required 15 minutes to make sure I had no reactions. Lastly, I was given a date and time for my second vaccine.

A big thank you to the YMCA for providing the well-equipped fieldhouse and to the volunteers and medical staff who were professional, friendly, helpful and even had some humor.
