Boothbay Region Lions Club

Mon, 09/30/2019 - 9:00am

The Boothbay Region Lions Club met for a regular meeting on Sept. 25. A wonderful meal was enjoyed provided by our kitchen crew of Lions Alan, Mary and Duane.

Our speaker for the meeting was June Johnson from the Sebago Lions Club, who is the president of the Maine Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation.

She spoke about the foundation renewing its partnership with the Iris Network and told us about the wonderful work the foundation is doing in the areas of vision and hearing.

June is specifically involved with vision screening and congratulated our club on our involvement in Set for Success here in Boothbay in August. She told us how impressed she was with Lion Barry who learned to use the vision screening machine quickly and was able to screen many children in spite of the little ones having problems sitting still at times.

We discussed the upcoming Fall Foliage Festival. Lion Jay has agreed to make fish chowder for our booth once again this year with the help of volunteers from our membership. We will be manning our booth at the Festival on Saturday, Oct. 12.

We again voted to donate to the 7th grade leadership camp at Camp Kieve.

Our next meeting will be Oct. 9. Please see our Facebook page for more information.
